The Financial Aid Systems Manager oversees the development, programming, and maintenance of the Banner Student Financial Aid system, ensuring efficient processing of federal and state aid. This role includes configuring, customizing, and troubleshooting Banner applications to meet institutional needs. Additional responsibilities involve resolving system-rejected FAFSA applications and contributing to the management and updating of the financial aid website.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to analyze business processes, understand requirements, and create technical solutions. This role requires high-level technical support, effective teamwork, and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for gathering requirements and explaining technical solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and deploy custom applications and reports within the Banner Student Financial Aid system.

  • Collaborate with users to gather requirements and customize Banner forms as needed.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Banner modules, including support for system upgrades and compliance with security and privacy regulations.

  • Work on integration projects to ensure seamless data flow between Banner and other institutional systems.

  • Oversee annual setup for federal and state aid processing.

  • Resolve C-flags and system-rejected FAFSA applications.

  • Administer and award internal and external scholarships.

  • Update and maintain the Financial Aid website.

  • Perform additional tasks to support the department's goals and objectives.

Occasional evening and weekend hours, as well as some travel, may be required.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • At least five years of experience with the Banner Student Financial Aid system.

  • Knowledge of SQL, Banner configuration, and customization.

  • Proficiency with web-based applications using HTML.

  • Experience with Banner upgrades, patches, and maintenance tasks.

  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree.

  • Experience with financial aid tools and data analysis platforms, such as EdConnect, Microsoft Access, and Excel.

  • Familiarity with FAFSA application processing, including resolving C-flags and rejected applications.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, December 19, 2024, and ending Friday, January 3, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Friday, January 17, 2025

  • SALARY: $65,000 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $68,400 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
