The EMERGE program at Farmingdale State College (FSC) is seeking a dedicated Associate Director of Academic Programming for the College's Office of First Year/Transfer Year Experience (OFY/TYE). Farmingdale State College was recently awarded a five-year, $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education under the Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) Program authorized by Title V. This is the largest federal grant in the history of the College. This landmark award will support the development of a new program at FSC, Education Milestones in Enrollment, Retention, and Graduation Excellence (EMERGE), which is designed to address barriers that may often prevent Hispanic and traditionally underserved students from achieving their academic goals. EMERGE will support the creation of a new Office of First Year and Transfer Year Experience on campus and will enable curricular innovation in support of improved college readiness.
The Associate Director of Academic Programming will report to the EMERGE Director and working in conjunction with the entire EMERGE team as well as faculty and staff across the College, the Associate Director will be an integral partner in leveraging strategies that have been proven to promote student success at Farmingdale State College. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Office of the Associate Provost (which EMERGE reports to), academic departments, and various functional areas to: 1) create and deliver First year and Transfer Year Experience Courses; 2) develop Freshman Learning Communities; 3) provide leadership and direction on intrusive advising and academic success coaching; 4) foster learning support; 5) facilitate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and 6) provide supplemental oversight of program implementation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Curriculum and Instructional Oversight
Develop and refine First Year Learning Communities.
Develop and refine instructional materials for FY/TYE courses in multiple formats (online, hybrid, in person) as needed by programs of the College.
Provide coordination oversight with Registrar's office to establish FY/TYE course sections, including oversight of class scheduling and faculty assignments.
Implement comprehensive assessment procedures to evaluate effectiveness of FY/TYE courses and student learning outcomes.
Ensure FY/TYE curriculum is inclusive, innovative, and aligned with Farmingdale State College academic standards and best practices.
Faculty Development and Support
Recruit and hire faculty to teach LC's, FY/TYE courses.
Engage in faculty mentorship and conduct observations with personnel teaching FY/TYE courses.
Collaborate with FSC Faculty Center to develop and implement faculty trainings; help establish faculty teaching circles for LCs.
Organize professional development opportunities to enhance teaching quality and instructional innovation.
Programming and Academic Success
Create and provide oversight for blocked courses to build community with first-time full-time students.
Construct and support unique academic learning communities.
Provide oversight in the administration of placement testing, early registration, and ELL supports for students in need.
Help install a community of practice on issues regarding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice.
Interface with campus stakeholders (Enrollment Management, Deans, Registrar, Department Chairs, Student Support Services, Dean of Students, etc.) to administer responsive programs, timely interventions, and a functional support structure for incoming students.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Terminal degree in their field of study.
Demonstrated proficiency to design, develop, and implement innovative curricula.
Proven ability to oversee project execution, advance strategic initiatives, and access outcomes.
Minimum of 3 years' experience teaching at the college level.
Ability to work collaboratively across academic and administrative departments.
Experience working within a college-related setting supporting student development and success.
Strong oral and written communication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Academic advisement experience.
Familiarity with programs used for advisement including Banner, OASIS, Degree Works, and CRM Advise.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time,12-month UUP position.
For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, January 24, 2025, and ending Thursday, February 6, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

SALARY: $90,000 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $93,400 Total Compensation
