Farmingdale State College Assistant Professor - Nutrition Science and Wellness in Farmingdale, New York

The Department of Nutrition Science and Wellness is seeking to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position to teach nutrition science and food/service related coursework. This individual will provide service through university committee participation and develop a research program to fulfill department needs in the candidate's expertise area. Additional duties include advising students, curriculum development, and assessment.
Possible courses to teach in nutrition include but are not limited to: Introduction to Nutrition Science, Nutrition Communication, Nutrition Seminar, Research Methods in Nutrition Science, Supplements & Ergogenic Aids, and Sports Nutrition. Ability to teach in the department's other majors of Applied Gerontology and Health Promotion and Wellness is a plus.
The candidate may be required to teach online or hybrid courses as deemed necessary by the Department. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of ability to work independently with inter-disciplinary team members with strong interpersonal attributes, and excellent written and verbal skills. Successful completion of a Doctoral degree is required to maintain this position and the awarding of tenure.
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty which is necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. The service component of the workload includes student advisement as well as active participation on departmental, school and college-wide committees. The faculty member may be expected to teach in multiple formats including hybrid, online and traditional face-to-face classes.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Nutrition Science or closely related field from a regionally accredited university.
Ability to teach Nutrition Science at the college level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in Nutrition Science or closely related field from a regionally accredited University.
Two or more years teaching experience in Nutrition Science at the college level.
Teaching experience in Research Methodology courses to a college student population.
Teaching experience in Health Promotion areas such as Holistic, Alternative and Ergogenic Health.
Knowledge of course instructional technologies and online course management systems such as Brightspace.
Additional Information:
This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.
For the first 10 working days, beginning Monday, December 23, 2024, and ending Tuesday, January 7, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

SALARY (Master's): $72,500 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $76,500 Total Compensation.
SALARY (Doctorate): $75,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $79,000 Total Compensation.
