Farmingdale State College Assistant Director of Financial Aid in Farmingdale, New York

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid serves as second in command, is in charge in the Director's absence, and will assist in the overall planning, administration, and operational activities of the Office of Financial Aid. The position is responsible for the publication and dissemination of departmental policies and procedures in adherence with federal, state, and college regulations in college print materials, websites and internal manuals.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office.
Perform the return of Title IV calculations.
Award internal and external scholarships.
Monitor Transfer student financial aid.
Manage the SAIG mailbox and access to federal sites for staff.
Oversee the satisfactory academic progress process.
Present at Open House and other internal and external events.
Assist in the assessment of staff and processes.
Assist the Director and the Assistant Director of Technology for Student Financial Services with the managing and analyzing of system processes, output and information technology needs.
Attend professional development and training workshops and conferences.
Assist in implementing new processes.
Participate as an active member of the institutions' management team.
Ensure active communication and cohesive working relationships with all other departments.
Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
Using management skills to set goals, coordinate, evaluate, initiate creative projects, and complete workload.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to a collaborative administrative leadership style and have a proven ability to think strategically, prioritize effectively, and act decisively. The position is to provide high-quality customer service to students and families at all times. In addition, the position requires high-level organizational skills and the ability to undertake a variety of tasks simultaneously while maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times. Occasional evening and weekend hours as well as some travel is required.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree.
Minimum five years' experience in financial aid.
Expert knowledge of federal regulations governing student financial aid.
Previous experience in managing staff.
Proficient in student data system.
Must be a team player.
Experience creating and facilitating information sessions utilizing PowerPoint.
Excellent organizational, verbal and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree.
Three years of experience in managing staff.
Knowledge of the withdrawal process and R2T4 calculations.
Experience with determining SAP eligibility.
Proficiency in Banner Student System.
Experience with EDconnect, Microsoft Access and Excel.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time UUP position.
For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, July 24, 2024, and ending Tuesday, August 6, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled
SALARY: $80,000 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $83,400 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
