Periodically, adjunct teaching positions become available in the Architecture & Construction Management department. The following courses in construction project management and construction engineering are part of the Architectural Engineering Technology and Construction Management Engineering Technology programs:

  • CON350 - Introduction to Construction Engineering

  • CON351 - Construction Safety

  • CON355 - Const. Mgmt. Financial & Accounting Princ.

  • CON357 - Quantity Surveying and Costing

  • CON401W - Construction Project Management

  • CON406 - Advanced Project Planning and Scheduling

  • CON496 - Capstone Project

Well qualified candidates will have experience in some or all of the following:

  • Course specific knowledge to teach in accordance with course learning objectives and student learning outcomes.

  • Knowledge of prevailing building codes used in Long Island jurisdictions

  • Knowledge of site and building construction materials and assemblies specified in building and site design

  • Knowledge of site design and construction for grading, drainage, site structures and pavement, and landscape preparation

  • Knowledge of construction equipment use, scheduling, mobilization, and operation

  • Knowledge of construction drawings, construction notes and specification organization, layers and preparation

  • Knowledge of field survey skills, surveying equipment, preparations of surveying drawings and reports, and use of field equipment.

  • Knowledge of construction site safety planning and management

  • Knowledge of construction cost estimating, budgeting, and/or accounting associated with project management

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Construction Management and MS in Construction Management or related field, or

  • B. Arch. (5 year), or

  • M. Arch., or

  • B.S. Arch. and MS in related field, or

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, or

  • B.S. in Surveying or related field

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Architectural Registration (RA) license, or

  • Professional Engineering (PE) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.

  • 3 years of professional work experience and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
