The SPD Instrument Coordinator coordinates all facets of departmental duties and responsibilities.Functions as the primary point person for the operating room and central sterile processing department for ensuring availability of instrument repairs, loaners and replacements for all services in collaboration with the specialty service line OR Team leads. Provides timely communication regarding instrument repair, loaners and new equipment with the intention of flawless return and delivery of operative equipment and instrumentation. Collaborates with education in OR and SPD to ensure staff in both areas are informed of instrumentation updates and changes. Supports the specialty service line team leads in ensuring that staff use functioning and quality instrumentation and equipment.Supports the SPD manager in training SPD staff in the handling and cleaning of new instruments and equipment as determined by the SPD manager.Has the ability of monitoring SPD department supply inventory, maintaining instrument par levels both in the operating room and central sterile processing department.Under the supervision of the SPD Manager, the instrument specialist and supply coordinator facilitates the activities and assists in developing, implementing and managing effective, cost-containment system for, preventive maintenance and repair of surgical instruments, scopes and other equipment for all specialty service lines as defined by each specialty service line need.Act as a resource person to all SPD and OR staff on instruments and equipment related needs.

Education Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required with a preference in supply chain management, business or related field and 2 years of supply chain experience, with at least 1 year in the health care industry

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, and/or surgical services

What You'll Do:

Coordinates the purchase, stocking and inventory of supplies, equipment and services with regard to the quality, cost standards and patient care goals of Essentia Health. Assists with the analysis regarding new items, cost savings opportunities and other business-related activities. Ensure the timely and accurate capture of surgical services supply charges

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

  • Able to obtain certification as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician through SPSD.

OR

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).

OR

  • Obtain the AHRMM Certification in Essentials of Purchasing and Essentials of Inventory Control within 24 months of hire.

Job Location: 32nd Avenue Building

Shift Rotation: Day Rotation (United States of America)

Shift Start/End: 8:00 am/4:30 pm

Hours Per Pay Period: 80

Compensation Range: $19.55 - $29.32 / hour
