Summary This position is in the Research Office at the Fargo VA Health Care System. The incumbent performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the Research Service and the institution. Responsibilities Major duties include: Serves as the primary point of contact for individuals entering the Research Office Develops/maintains computerized databases Sets appointments/schedules meetings Manages Department Calendar Provides clerical support Forms and records management Maintains and updates files, lists and manuals for the Department Serves as the Training Administrator-coordinating, scheduling training and maintaining training records Performs timekeeping duties Serves as primary purchase card holder for Research Service Provides procurement support Assists with physical inventories Sets up annual contracts and monitors performance Ensures VA Green Environmental Management System (GEMS) compliance In the performance of official duties, the incumbent has regular access to printed electronic files containing sensitive data which must be protected under provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/20/2024. You must qualify for the GS-07 grade level based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05; experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: using an array of office equipment to perform a variety of administrative functions such as handles correspondence, calls and visitors, develops and maintains computerized databases, tracking employee training, manages appointment calendar, and manages supplies. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary and requires long periods of concentrated mental effort. Some lifting and carrying of lift items such as records and files is necessary. Work Environment: Work is performed for the most part in a properly heated, lighted, and ventilated office and involves everyday risks or discomforts which require safety precautions.
