Job Title: Production Maintenance- Day Shift

Job Description

Responsible for maintaining all types of production equipment used in an industrial baking plant. Work with conveyor belt systems, heaters, ovens, mixers, rolling systems, and basic heating and cooling systems. Fabricate replacement parts for machinery with basic bench top tools and welding equipment. Complete daily checklists for preventative tasks as well as any emergency maintenance. Document all activities as required in a Food Production Facility. Use the appropriate materials and supplies on the correct machinery. Assist operators during changeovers and conduct run-throughs to troubleshoot any issues before adding dough. A 5-6 month training period includes shadowing main maintenance technicians, performing basic cleaning/changeovers, and familiarizing oneself with the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair production equipment.

  • Work with conveyor belt systems, heaters, ovens, mixers, and rolling systems.

  • Fabricate replacement parts using bench top tools and welding equipment.

  • Complete daily checklists for preventative tasks and emergency maintenance.

  • Document maintenance activities as required in a Food Production Facility.

  • Use appropriate materials and supplies on machinery.

  • Assist operators during changeovers and conduct run-throughs.

  • Shadow main maintenance technicians during the 5-6 month training period.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge of gears, conveyors, bearings/bushings, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Electrical knowledge, including wiring, troubleshooting shorts/surges, and VFDs.

  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, edit, or program PLC input/output systems.

  • Basic metal fabrication skills, including drilling, finishing, and welding.

  • High attention to detail, especially in completing logs and using food grade materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Automated/production equipment experience is preferred.

  • Automotive mechanical experience is applicable.

Work Environment

The production environment can get warm in the summer. There are at least two Maintenance Technicians on schedule at all times, plus one person on call. The team includes a total of 8-10 maintenance technicians. Required attire includes hair nets and beard guards due to the food production setting. Some areas of the production floor, such as pan stacking, can be loud. Standardized uniforms with names and steel-toed, safety sole boots are required. The facility operates 24/7/365 with four different shifts, including an 8a-8p schedule on a rotation of 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off.
