Process Development
An overview of our production process: Customers send "Purchase Orders" to us for part that must be custom manufactured to their EXACT specification. We as the supplier of "Custom Parts" will supply the required material, in the required condition, to our machinist who in turn "Machines" the material to the customer provided drawing specifications. We are required to supply documentation to verify that we did indeed meet PO requirements. This position requires that the "Job" is laid out before production starts.
As "Project Manager" your daily activities will be to review "Orders" and verify that the "Order" entered into our system matches EXACTLY the Purchase Order sent in by our customer.
Find discrepancies and correct before releasing the job to the shop.
Understand the order of operations and lay out "Job Travelers" so that work flows smoothly thru the production process. (We use Lathes, Milling Machines, Grinders and Keyseaters to produce our product)
Schedule and Manage "Material Prep" (Working directly with the Sawing and Drilling department to have material sawn and drilled in time for further processing by the machinist)
People with a reasonable "Machining" background perform well in this position. Our definition of a "Machining" background is a person who has been actively involved and is reasonable proficient in "Cutting Metal".
