*CARPENTER FOREMAN *SALARY: $25.00 - $30.00 | DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

**POSITION SUMMARY

Works on construction projects using carpentry skills to build components such as stairs, decks, roofs, platforms, trim, construct forms, pergolas, gazebos, sheds, and outdoor kitchens. Works with a variety of construction materials and utilizes hand tools, power tools, and small machinery to perform work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities may include the following.
  • Prepare the layout of the project
  • Build forms and place concrete
  • Drill and cut concrete
  • Frame stairs, decks, platforms, porches, pergolas, and walls
  • Install shingle or metal roofing
  • Verifies trueness of structure using tools such as a plumb bob, level, tape measure,
  • framing square, laser, and survey equipment
  • Operate hand and power tools including saws, chisels, drills, impact drills, concrete saws
  • and drills, sanders to construct and repair structures
  • Operate small machinery as needed such as tractor, loader, excavator, plate compactor,
  • power washer, and jack hammer.
  • Work will materials such as wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall
  • Joins materials with nails, screws, staples, adhesives, and other
  • Identifies, reports, and corrects potential hazards associated with specific task or the
  • project to maintain a safe work area
  • Load and unload materials up to 100 pounds
  • Other duties assigned

  • Familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Language skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and plans. Ability to wire routine reports and correspondence
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to do basic construction math, including measuring, transposing, and calculating cut lengths and basic volumes.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
  • Reliable transportation method to get to and from project sites

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Leads, manages field associates, and performs self-perform work on construction projects using carpentry skills to construct, fabricate, install, and dismantle components made of a variety of construction materials.
  • Coordinate and attend field meetings, ensure safety, and manage self-perform work activities to ensure work is performed within budget, on schedule, and per project specifications.
  • This position requires the use of hand tools, power tools and construction equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Set-Up and Planning
  • Develops and implements self-perform work pre-job plan by analyzing construction documents, identifying critical path, long-lead items, and implementing the plan to perform work in the most efficient manner.
  • Develop material delivery logistic plan by carefully analyzing site conditions for deliveries.Develops a plan to safely perform work to be put into place.
  • Schedule Management
  • Coordinates and schedules work to be put into place with trade partners, suppliers, and field associates on a daily/weekly basis and make adjustments as necessary to stay on schedule.
  • Develops two and three week look-ahead schedule identifying materials and manpower needs to ensure work being performed is properly staffed with manpower and materials.
  • Coordinates with owner daily/weekly for schedule updating.
  • Budget Management
  • Reviews self-perform budget and week y reports to ensure project meets or exceeds budget specifications.
  • Sets corrective measures to steer self-perform work back in budget by communicating and coordinating with field associates.
  • Reports any labor report errors or discrepancies to Owner.
  • Materials, Supplies and Equipment
  • Monitors material and deliveries to ensure accurate quantities meet project specifications.
  • Maintains company tools and equipment by following manufacturers' specifications for
  • Maintenance requirements and conducting safety inspections.
  • Evaluates and reviews tool and equipment needs with owner.

QUALITY CONTROL

  • Develops and maintains a self-perform quality control plan to ensure self-perform work meets or exceeds project specifications.
  • Manages and sets overall quality control expectation for self-perform work.
  • Manages self-perform punch list with the goal of zero items.
  • Ensures all applicable inspections are performed and discrepancies immediately resolved.
  • Photographs materials, work progress and site conditions.

DOCUMENTATION

  • Maintains documentation of self-perform work including accurate time sheets, daily field reports, inspections, weekly safety reports, and any other reports specific to the self-perform work.
  • Manages documentation of expenses by keeping receipts and regularly completing expense reports for submission to accounting.

STAFFING

  • Evaluates manpower needs by communicating with the Owner to add and remove staff accordingly.
  • Supervise performance of field associates and provide feedback to strengthen theself-perform staff.
  • Delegate self-perform work accordingly.
  • Monitor worker attendance, performance, safety compliance, quality control, conduct, and adherence to the company's Core Values. Addresses disciplinary issues with Superintendent.
  • Offer encouragement and recognition for work completed on time and with high quality.
  • Meetings and Relationships
  • Conduct weekly self-perform work meetings with field associates.
  • Coordinate work installed by other trades to ensure proper flow, efficiency and highest of quality.
  • Maintains good relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field associates by communicating regularly and acting in a professional and courteous manner.

SAFETY

  • Development and implementation of project specific self-perform work safety plan.
  • Prepares and completes weekly self-perform safety inspection walk-throughs of work areas.
  • Addresses safety concerns with field associates and associated subcontractors.
  • Immediately halt work concerning all life-safety issues.
  • Conducts weekly job site Toolbox Meetings.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and organized.
