The McLeod Innovation Center

The McLeod Innovation Center is at the forefront of educational and technological advancement, providing an environment that fosters creativity, learning, and innovation. Our mission is to equip students and educators with cutting-edge resources and skills, enabling them to explore, create, and innovate.

Position Overview: The Technology and Maker Space Educator is a dynamic role focused on integrating innovative technology and hands-on making into our educational programming. This position is split between teaching a few classes and working in the McLeod Innovation Center, providing support for students and teachers in utilizing cutting-edge tools and technology for creative projects and curriculum enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Instruction:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons on various topics related to technology, coding, engineering, and digital fabrication.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.

  • Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey.

Innovation Center Oversight:

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the McLeod Innovation Center, ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for all users.

  • Maintain and manage the fabrication process and equipment (e.g., 3D printers and laser cutters).

  • Enforce safety protocols and guidelines for the use of maker space tools and equipment.

Project Support and Collaboration:

  • Assist students and teachers in the design and execution of projects, offering technical guidance and support.

  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate maker space resources into their curriculum, aligning projects with educational goals.

Education & Technical Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in STEAM fields or related areas is preferred, but candidates currently pursuing this degree may also be considered.

  • Experience in high school, particularly in Jesuit education, is valued.

  • Familiarity with creative technologies like micro:bit and Arduino is a plus.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Team player with a collaborative spirit, flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning abilities.

  • Proactive and eager to learn on the job with a “can do” attitude.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • An understanding of or experience with Jesuit ideals and education is highly regarded.
