Role summary
Our client is seeking an occupational therapist to join their team. The occupational therapist will work under the supervision of the rehabilitation services supervisor and director, by their evaluation findings and physician’s referral. Implements individual-specific treatment programs following occupational therapy principles and practices
Primary job duties
Provides occupational therapy services, inpatient, and outpatient during assigned shift while in hours of operation. Assigned rotating shifts of weekend and holiday coverage
Evaluates patient at physician’s request to develop specific treatment and goals. Administers procedures specific to the clients learning need and age. Plans a proper discharge using proper techniques
Acts as case manager for assigned patients. Develops and keeps correct/current patient records by departmental policies
Reevaluates patients' treatment on a consistent basis with physician’s approval when necessary. Provides patient/family/caregiver with age specific instructions for therapy and home program. Provides added instruction as needed
Instructs patient/family/caregiver on proper usage of assistive equipment. Communicates with facility team members, family, physicians and third-party payers on patient progression and/or program changes as appropriate
Attends inter/intradepartmental services and meetings as needed
Participation in program development (long and short term), committees, student intern/volunteer program when asked. Provides supervision to the occupational therapists' assistant
Maintains clean, safe and orderly treatment areas and equipment. Reports any concerns and questions about workplace safety to supervisor
Build and keep effective communication with physicians, patients and all hospital personnel
Performs other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or equivalent
Licensure: Current California Occupational Therapy license is needed
NBCOT Certification is needed. CHT, Physical Agent Modalities (PAM), advanced practitioner certification, or advanced practitioner certification in Hands preferred
Occupational Therapy license applicants may be considered
Current AHA or equivalent BLS certification
