Job Title: Field Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician Mechanic to join our team. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 40-hour work week. The role requires traveling around the Bay Area to service commercial vehicles. Candidates must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and be located in or around Alameda County.

Responsibilities

  • Service and repair commercial vehicles such as sewer and storm cleaning vehicles, hydro backs and vacuum excavators, street sweepers, bucket trucks, and three-quarter ton trucks with trailers.

  • Check and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues in industrial vehicles.

  • Travel to customer locations for on-site repairs as needed.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.

  • Utilize skills in repairing forklifts, including Crown Forklifts.

  • Work on electrical diagnostics, including various components and circuits that power and control vehicles.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment.

  • Read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.

  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns using computer diagnostic equipment.

  • Create clear parts requisitions and document service work orders.

  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for wear, damage, or specific problems affecting performance and safety.

Essential Skills

  • 3 years of experience with construction or heavy diesel equipment with hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.

  • Experience in welding and fabrication is a plus.

  • Possess a complete toolset required for service.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external customers.

  • Good attendance and punctuality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with preventive maintenance on heavy equipment.

  • Comfortable working on a laptop to view schematics of vehicles.

  • Experience with rigging equipment.

Work Environment

Start your day from home and join a team of five mechanics, with plans to add a sixth. The role involves working 40 hours a week, with occasional Saturday work or extended hours due to travel. Uniforms and coveralls are supplied, and steel-toed boots are required from day one. The company provides steel-toed boots once a year, with a budget of $100-$150. The Cintas Driver delivers uniforms weekly. This position involves working with niche machines, ranging from one to twenty years old, and requires the ability to retain learned information.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00
