SCRUM Master – NAVSUP OIS - Remote
Overview/ Job Responsibilities
GDIT is looking for a Scrum Master for the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Ordnance Information System (OIS) to provide technical expertise on a mission-critical program whose purpose is to develop, modernize, enhance, operate, and maintain services for OIS mission critical systems.
The Scrum Master will be a servant leader who facilitates and supports agile cross-functional teams responsible for delivering features and products. In this role, you will facilitate the team(s) through all aspects of the agile process which includes release planning, sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, product demonstrations, iteration reviews and retrospectives. You will also have in-depth agile process knowledge in order to coach and mentor several remote teams effectively, simultaneously. You will work closely across our client's organization to ensure coordination and communication with existing Development Services teams, both internal and external.
Travel to customer site (Mechanicsburg, PA) will be required for Program Increment planning sessions, 2 times per year. Additional travel may be required for meetings.
Primary Responsibilities:
Act as a change agent to assist in timely delivery of customer prioritized features
Facilitate effective and efficient meetings and Scrum rituals including: release and sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives, and daily stand-ups
Maintain transparency into the team’s work and provide metrics on team progress
Be a resource to each team member and support the removal of impediments, as required
Isolation of root problems from exposed symptoms and aid in resolutions
Engage multiple roles and stakeholders in critical discussion, complex new product development discovery and building consensus
Support product owners to maximize ROI and meet the organization objectives
Coach and support continuous improvement within the team
Help identify and mitigate any external dependency risks in feature/product development
Coordinate with other Scrum Masters and cross-functional teams on deliverables that affect team goals
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have DOD Secret level clearance to start
Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years’ experience; without a degree 5 additional years of experience would be required
A thorough understanding of scrum and agile principles, values, and practices, preferably within a SAFe organization
Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks within a collaborative team environment
Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and writing.
Must be a self-starter, strong leader, and have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Must be a problem solver with sound judgment and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
Over 5 years’ experience working in an Agile Scrum Master role
SAFe experience and knowledge
Experience working in an environment delivering software into embedded & real time systems
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
Ability to translate complex information into ideas and effectively communicate
Strong cross-functional team collaboration skills
Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
Strong facilitation and presentation skills
Experience working with Navy IT customers
The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
