Position Description:

CGI is part of a team to support and modernize multiple cloud-based systems supporting case management using agile DevSecOps teams. We have built, maintained, and enhanced multiple solutions over the years for our client, deploying to AWS. Our experienced teams are repeatedly called upon to address the latest challenges using new technology.

To support our growth, we need Java microservices developers that are willing to learn new technologies to enhance the existing systems while gaining an understanding of the client ecosystem. You will deploy all applications to the cloud automatically using Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, so understanding the importance of test-driven development is key.

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Work closely with Business Analysts and subject matter experts to understand requirements and translate to software solutions

• Create and sustain micro-service applications using Java and Spring Boot

• Maintain code quality, organization and performance

• Participate in design meetings with other projects and the client’s technical specialists

• Provide support for downstream testing efforts and defect resolution

• Work with other Agile teams to effectively design, build, and deliver cloud-based solutions

• Work with other teams to coordinate integration testing across multiple (more than 3) teams

• Participate in daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint demos and other Agile ceremonies

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required as well as successful passing of CGI background check prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/CISA EOD/Public Trust clearance.

• 4+ years of development experience in the Information Technology field focusing on development projects using Java and Spring Boot development environments

• Experience developing and maintaining micro-services

• Proficient with source code versioning tools (Git)

• Experience developing and deploying to AWS

• Proficient with build tools such Maven

• Knowledge of RESTful API-based applications

• Experience working in an Agile environment

• Experience with Test-Driven Development

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

• Experience designing and developing applications and reusable components using J2EE technologies in a service-oriented architecture

• Familiarity with Docker

• Experience developing with JavaScript frameworks such as REACT and Angular
