Arkema Inc. Research Chemist Job in Exton, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4136045B-0DFE-4 The Research Chemist develops solutions to customer or market driven needs through experimentation with novel chemistries and printing methods using Sartomer' s extensive product lines. To accomplish this, the incumbent will apply sound scientific principles and laboratory practices to generate accurate and reliable results. Effective interactions with local and global colleagues, Sartomer business, marketing and sales groups, R&D management, customers, and development partners are required to solve high priority, technical problems and accelerate product developments. The Research Chemist works safely, responsibly and efficiently in a dynamic laboratory setting and may occasionally travel to customer sites or other Arkema locations.

This role will be located at the Exton, PA. facility and will report to a R&D Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE & NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: Continuously researches new materials and printing processes to develop solutions that meet the demands of customer and market applications. Plans and conducts laboratory studies in Sartomer labs and participates in processing trials in manufacturing plant to support. commercialization of new technologies. Prepares documentation to support scale ups to pilot and manufacturing scales. Develops formulations to address specific market or customer needs and tunes for printability on range of 3D printers. Investigates new chemistries for utility in photocure 3D printing. With guidance, identifies and uses internal and external resources/experts to help solve high priority, technical problems and accelerate product development efforts. Works with supervisor to analyze and develop solutions for customer requests. In partnership with management, works with customers to offer scientifically based advice when faced with ambiguity, incomplete data and time pressures. Effectively communicates risks and outcomes. Develops and implements new analytical methods as needed to support project progress. Uses statistical DOE methods to solve problems and analyze results. Uses sound scientific principles and critical thinking to make recommendations for project directions.

SAFETY: Complies with all company and site safety policies and procedures. Takes responsibility for their own safety and that of others. Actively takes part in safety programs and reports unsafe conditions. Follows site 5S, BBS and SafeStart requirements.

RECORD KEEPING and REPORTING: Reports to department and technical management/leadership both verbally and in technical reports and presentations, experimental results, data analysis, conclusions, and suggestions for next steps Captures data and shares results in an organized retrievable manner to systematically move research forward, follow the knowledge management policy. Routinely solves assigned and self-uncovered complex scientific problems by individual initiative.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: With guidance, actively reviews the IP space for relevant projects to identify opportunities. Works with management and legal to secure IP property as required.

Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience: BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or other related technical field with 5+ years of relevant industrial experience, or MS degree with 2+ years of related technical experience. An experience in the Dental 3D Printing Industry is a plus. Proficient with computer software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, etc.) Writes and presents effectively at multiple levels both internally and externally. Organizes and analyses data to explain conclusions and outcomes. Expresses both verbally and in writing complex concepts, thoughts, and ideas clearly and concisely. Demonstrates ability to maintain strong customer/collegial relationships. Demonstrates a commitment to conducting work ethically and lawfu ly.
