Water Distribution Specialist (Time Limited)

This position is Time-Limited for up to 3 years (36 months. Application review will begin 02/11/2025. Interviews will be scheduled for chosen qualified candidates. Resume review will continue up to 02/27/2025 and again interviews will be scheduled for chosen qualified candidates.
We are recruiting at the Water Distribution Specialist level 1 through 5. The successful candidate(s) will be placed at the appropriate level depending on skills, abilities, and qualifications.
Basic Responsibilities
Water Distribution Specialists performs various duties in the operation, maintenance, construction, and storekeeping of the District's water systems to assure that local, state, and federal regulations are adhered to and that prompt, efficient, courteous service is provided to water utility customers.
Time-Limited positions primarily perform work to support the District's Connect Up program by replacing water meter boxes and lids, installing new water meters and radio modules, performing testing upon installation, flushing of water lines, and occasionally performing various duties of the regular position.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Level 1: Two years of experience as a Water Worker or equivalent external experience and certification. $43.65 per hour
- Level 2: One year of experience at Level 1 plus successful passage of a total of two training modules, or equivalent external experience. $46.60 per hour
- Level 3: One year of experience at Level 2 plus successful passage of a total of three training modules, or equivalent external experience. $49.55 per hour
- Level 4: One year of experience at Level 3 plus successful passage of a total of four training modules, or equivalent external experience. $52.50 per hour
- Level 5: One year of experience at Level 4 plus successful passage of a total of five training modules, or equivalent external experience. $55.45 per hour
License/Certification
- Valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Valid Washington State Class A Commercial Driver's License (within 6 months of hire)
- Valid first aid, CPR, and flagging cards (within 6 months of hire)
- Trained and certified in Asbestos Cement Pipe Work Practice and Procedures (within 6 months of hire)
- Appropriate Washington State Water certification:
- Level 2: Water Distribution Manager 1
- Level 3: Water Distribution Manager 1 or Water Distribution Specialist and Cross Connection Control Specialist
- Level 4: Water Distribution Manager 2 or Water Treatment Plant Operator In-Training and Cross Connection Control Specialist
- Level 5: Water Distribution Manager 2 and Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 and Cross Connection Control Specialist
