Job Title: Composite Mechanic
- $40-50/hour DOE, per diem split available.
Job Description
Supporting heavy maintenance and modification of 737 aircraft.
The Composite Mechanic will remove and reinstall structures as required to access repair areas, repair carbon fiber and fiberglass on fairings, flaps, slats, flight controls, and other components.
Responsibilities include taper-sanding various materials for damage removal in challenging areas, reading repair manuals and drawings to determine required materials and repair procedures, applying heat blankets with proper thermocouple placement, operating a Heatcon hot-bond console, and building splashes from fiberglass and resin for use in the curing process.
Responsibilities
Remove and reinstall structures to access repair areas.
Repair carbon fiber and fiberglass on fairings, flaps, slats, and flight controls.
Taper-sand various materials for damage removal in challenging areas.
Read repair manuals and drawings to determine types of materials required for each repair, as well as the number and orientation of repair plies.
Apply heat blankets with proper thermocouple placement and bagging schedule.
Operate a Heatcon hot-bond console.
Build splashes from fiberglass and resin for use in the curing process.
Essential Skills
Composite repair experience, including fiberglass and carbon fiber.
4+ years of recent aircraft composite repair.
Ability to use tools and read blueprints.
Experience with maintenance and blueprint reading.
Taper-sanding and Heatcon hot-bond console operation.
Experience with core plugs and sanding.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of recent aircraft composite repair in an MRO environment.
A&P license.
Experience repairing carbon fiber and fiberglass structures on aircraft.
Willingness to wear a half-face respirator (clean shaven for fit during orientation).
Possession of minimum hand tools (basic wrenches, socket set, hi-lok plier).

Work Environment
- Large MRO hangar setting with shifts from Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Friday, with Saturday work possible. Shifts are 4 hours long, from 0530 to 1600 or 1530 to 0200, with extra shifts and overtime available (a typical workweek is 50 hours). The first week consists of ATS and customer-specific training on the day shift, ranging between 24 and 40 hours. Orientations are held every Monday.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
