GE Aerospace Aeroderivative Engineering Department Operations Leader in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

As the Aeroderivative Engineering Operation Leader you will be responsible for a team accountable for leading department-level initiatives to improve Engineering; execution transparency, effectiveness, compliance, safety, culture, and collaboration with interfacing functions (Systems & Design Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Product Line, and customers). Key responsibilities include providing effective coordination of metrics, creating, and maintaining visual management tools and dashboards utilizing LEAN toolset, improving department-level functional processes and coordination of cross-functional initiatives. As the Engineering Operations Leader you will be responsible for improving methods and tools for effective and transparent project and/or program management with the goal of developing “Standard Work” that can be leveraged across the global Aeroderivative Engineering teams. This role has moderate autonomy, requiring a high level of operational judgment guided by professional practices and policies.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain regular operational rhythms to enable on-time and on-budget delivery of program, project, quality, product cost and MRB deliverables.

  • Lead Monthly Operating Reviews (MORs) including creating and presenting KPI reports and creating and reporting recovery plans when KPIs are off-track.

  • Lead PSRs when KPI improvement is needed.

  • Partner with Systems Engineering Leaders, Design Engineering Leaders (local and global) and Finance to develop Standard Work tools and procedures that can be leveraged across the global engineering organization.

  • Lead Lean Operations initiatives including Metrics Dashboards, Unified Data Sources… that improve metrics transparency, facilitate problem solving, provide look-ahead capability and enable efficient daily management.

  • Lead Organizational communications and recognition initiatives (Safety, Culture, All-Hands Meeting, Employee Spotlights, Team Recognition… )

  • Collaborate and develop an Operation Leadership network across the broader Aviation Engineering organization. Contribute towards strategic head count planning and policy development and learn and leverages best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in Engineering Operations

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Lean training and experiences with GENBA, PSRs, Kaizen Events.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Established project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with non-engineering functions to create optimum solutions to impact business critical outcome.

  • Master's degree in engineering.
