Research Core Facilities' mission is to advance transformative excellence in research, innovation and graduate education by supporting faculty research success; enabling particular types of research capacities, such as equipment, material, data acquisition, data analysis, consultation or expertise, and/or other services; providing access to cutting edge equipment and expertise for small and large business entities; creating opportunities for businesses to build synergies and partnerships with UO faculty; providing students with access to tools, capacities, specific training, and projects; and promoting diversity and inclusion in access and education to research tools and technologies. As part of that mission, the Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation recognizes that faculty research success is often dependent on specialized facilities that provide access to a particular type of research capacity, such as equipment, material, data acquisition, data analysis, consultation or expertise, and other services.

The Research Cores include the following facilities: The Center for Advanced Materials Characterization in Oregon (CAMCOR), Aquatic Animal Care Services (AqACS), Genomics and Cell Characterization Core Facility (GC3F), Lewis Center for Neuroimaging (LCNI), Histology and Genetic Modification (HGeM), Terrestrial Animal Care Services (TeACS), Technical Science Administration (TSA), X-ray Imaging Core Facility, and a Greenhouse Facility. Position Summary

The Research Core Facilities at the University of Oregon is seeking qualified applicants for its open research pool. Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Positions may include mentoring and overseeing the work of undergraduate researchers, outreach or external engagement, testing, data collection, and report generation. Other work may include running and analyzing sample preparation and instrument operations in analytical laboratories, and measurement and interpretation of performance physiology outcomes. Minimum Requirements

Minimum qualifications by position category:

• RESEARCH ASSISTANT (TYPE A): Research experience relevant to the needs of the facility.

• RESEARCH ASSISTANT (TYPE B): Bachelor's degree in the sciences or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience appropriate to the position.

• RESEARCH ASSISTANT (TYPE C): Master's degree in the sciences or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience appropriate to the position.

*Ranks for each research assistant type in ascending order are research assistant, senior research assistant I, and senior research assistant II.

Research Associate rank:

• Terminal degree in the sciences or related field.

Senior Research Associate I rank:

• Terminal degree in the sciences or related field, plus 6 years of applicable work experience post-degree.

Senior Research Associate II rank:

• Terminal degree in the sciences or related field, plus 12 years of applicable work experience post-degree.

Professional Competencies

• Research and laboratory skills and experience, including the ability to analyze information and problem-solve.

• Organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong team ethic.

• Effective communication skills.
