Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join University Health Services (UHS) in our busy, team-oriented primary care clinic.

The primary care clinic is designed to deliver excellent, effective, efficient healthcare to undergraduate and graduate students at UO. The clinic is staffed by medical providers, registered nurses, and medical assistants working together with a goal to support students’ health needs in these crucial years of growth and development.

The primary care clinic functions within the broader Medical Services team, which includes acute care, sports medicine, psychiatry, and specialty care. UHS also has counseling, physical therapy, dental, pharmacy, and diagnostic services teams. Consequently, there is a high level of support and collegiality for the providers in the primary care clinic.

This position will serve as a member of the UHS Medical Staff, a group of medical providers who are friendly, smart, kind, and supportive. The position will be mentored by the Lead Physician in primary care and will report to the Medical Director.

This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition, employees must follow Compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Nurse Practitioners: Current Oregon license as a Registered Nurse and possession of a valid certification as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, or ability to obtain both by the agreed-upon start date of employment.

Physician Assistant: Possession of a valid Oregon license as a Physician Associate/Assistant and successful completion of the national certification exam, or ability to obtain both by the agreed-upon start date of employment.

Professional Competencies

• Experience with and commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.

• Experience with and/or commitment to working effectively within a primary care clinic to support continuity care as well as acute care needs, with a strong emphasis on mental health, reproductive health, and infectious disease.

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

• Commitment to lifelong learning and continuous quality improvement.

• Proficiency with common primary care procedures, including laceration repair, wound care, incision and drainage of abscesses, and splinting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioners: Current Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certification through the ANCC, AANP, or equivalent organization, or ability to obtain the certification by the agreed-upon start date of employment.

• Physician Assistants: At least 2000 hours of clinical work experience.

• Current Drug Enforcement Administration license for prescription of controlled substances, or ability to obtain the license by the agreed-upon start date of employment.

• Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification, or ability to have the certification by the agreed-upon start date of employment.
