If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Test Engineer I.The selected candidate will work within the eVinci Microreactor Testing group supporting research and development activities for the eVinci Microreactor test program.
The candidate will work primarily at the Etna site, with occasional travel to the Waltz Mill facility. Hybrid wfh/on-site role.
Your Day-to-Day: Lead and execute test programs throughout all phases of the design process. Collaborate with design teams to identify design features which require substantiation through testing. Develop and implement design requirements, test plans, specifications, and procedures in accordance with quality assurance program requirements. Collaborate with materials teams in design of high temperature / corrosion compatible test articles and in analyzation of test articles utilizing specialized mechanical / material analyses. Actively coordinate with site environmental health and safety to design and implement safety protocols into experiments. Perform and execute experiments in compliance with quality assurance and safety requirements. Technical writing, including development of technical reports. Reduce and analyze large data sets using Matlab, DIAdem, or Mathcad. Design test articles and first of a kind prototypes utilizing standard engineering practices and finite element analysis. Research, design, and selection of equipment and instrumentation for test facility applications. Prepare detailed sketches, 3D models, and drawings using Auto Cad, Inventor, and/or Solidworks. Develop control and data acquisition systems for instruments and equipment using Labview. Hands-on fabrication and assembly of test fixtures and test equipment. Hands-on installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment controls. Integrate testing efforts with modeling and analysis efforts. Develop and maintain effective business relationships with Westinghouse customers.
Who You Are: As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (Master's degree preferred). 1-2 years professional experience. Prior experience working in a lab/testing environment (academic or industry lab). Prior experience and knowledge of laboratory chemical hygiene practices. Mechanical problem-solving skills. Strong organizational, planning skills, and attention to detail. Highly motivated, self-starter. Good judgment and the ability to prioritize a number of diverse tasks. Orientation towards achieving Customer Success. Effective communication, teaming, and team building skills. Strong technical writing ability. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices including tolerance stackup analyses. Experience with rapid prototyping via traditional machining and 3D printing Experience designing and fabricating experimental test setups and DAQ systems Preferred experience working with lathe, mill, CNC, and general shop machinery Knowledge of dimensional inspection standards and tooling. Experience and knowledge of instrumentation error propagation analyses. Experience in 3D modeling and drafting software (Inventor or Solidworks). Experience in thermal-structural design analysis considering material systems of varying thermal expansion. Experience with finite element analysis utilizing ANSYS workbench. Preferred pressure, temperature, and fluid flow instrumentation experience. Preferred working knowledge of ASME Section VIII BPVC code. Preferred working knowledge of NI Labview or comparable DAQ systems. Preferred experience with ultra/high vacuum applications involving design and selection of pumping systems and materials at room and high temperature conditions.
