JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Behrend has an immediate opening for a one-year Postdoctoral Scholar-Research Associate appointment with the potential for continuation, depending on the availability of funding. The successful candidate will have a strong background in life cycle analysis and/or techno-economic analysis and familiarity in plastics. Experience in industrial ecology, programming, and/or model development are also desired.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science and Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Bioengineering or related fields by the appointment date.

The postdoctoral scholar will be responsible for evaluating a variety of different supply chain systems using life cycle analysis and/or technoeconomic analysis, including end-of-life batteries and plastics. The candidate will be working with Professor Gamini Mendis and other Advanced Resource Efficiency Center (AREC) faculty. The position encourages engagement with industry partners for development of projects and additional funding opportunities.

The researcher will join a highly productive, dynamic research group consisting of faculty, post-docs, graduate students, and undergraduates. The researcher will have opportunities to collaborate with an interdisciplinary group of scholars across the Penn State University system.
