UPMC OP Nurse Coordinator I - Great Lakes Pain Med in Erie, Pennsylvania

This full-time role offers a Monday to Friday schedule with variable day shift hours, including 7AM to 3:30PM, 7:30AM to 4PM, 8AM to 4:30PM, or 8:30AM to 5PM. Responsibilities:

  • Takes responsibility for ongoing professional development, actively engaging in practices that enhance both personal skills and patient care quality. Participates in shared governance and goal-setting initiatives, facilitating transitions that lead to improved care outcomes and practice environments.

  • Acts as a committed team member, providing support to colleagues and fostering collaboration. Engages in projects aimed at enhancing patient care and the overall professional setting.

  • Embraces change, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility throughout the process. Offers oversight and guidance to the practice environment, coordinating clinical and administrative activities to ensure effective operations.

  • Provides leadership and mentorship to new nursing staff and support personnel, overseeing daily patient care processes and promoting a cohesive team approach.

  • Develops comprehensive care plans with patients, considering their unique needs and fostering partnership in their healthcare journey. Triages and coordinates care in collaboration with physicians, ensuring holistic patient management.

  • Maintains productive relationships within and outside the organization by demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity. Balances professional and personal life while addressing workplace safety concerns.

  • Actively engages in quality improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction and care quality. Supports regulatory compliance and participates in audits, advocating for patients within the healthcare system.

  • Utilizes strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication skills to address various patient needs. Provides education to patients and families, ensuring they are informed and supported throughout their care experience.

  • The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.

  • They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients' requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.

  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience

  • BSN preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state. CPR CertificationUPMC approved national certification preferred.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Act 34

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
