Who will you be working with?
You will be part of MCA (Modular Control Architecture) software team. The MCA SW architecture is highly flexible, made up of many modular software, application, and hardware elements. While flexibility adds opportunity and capability, it also adds complexity, driving the importance of a robust platform SW and communication strategy. MCA is built on MBSE (Model Based System Engineering) principles for requirements management and test cases with full traceability built into the MBSE model.
How will you make a difference?
The Technical Leader will be responsible for architecture development/definition and system integration activities for our MCA control system. In this role you will identify and manage key interfaces across components, and subsystems. Drive the validation and integration to ensure a robust system design.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or other engineering discipline
Experience in architecture definition and creating system level concept tradeoffs
7 years relevant engineering experience
Experience defining software communication interfaces
Experience in requirement development/management
Experience with system integration and validation
Ability and willingness to support hands-on validation in simulation laboratory and on-locomotive
Ability and willingness to travel as required
Experience with full life cycle product development
What will your typical day look like?
Define integration test procedures in SysML for the control system architecture
Execute and coordinate integration execution across multiple test environments
Support definition control system level architecture for MCA control, decomposing and owning the interfaces of both hardware and software system elements
Support definition the software interfaces that exist between MCA Platform SW, MCA Middleware applications, and MCA Control Applications.
Champion systems engineering best practices for system development and requirements management
Develop/drive SE activities per the ISO 15288 process.
Support requirements development to ensure properly leveled, clear, and concise requirements are captured using the correct engineering tools.
Look for opportunities to remove ambiguity and improve design traceability through MBSE tools
Plan individual work for assigned features as input to project plans.
Plan and manage development activities with cross functional team to ensure design status, readiness, adequacy, and test asset availability
Participate in, or lead as appropriate, requirements, architecture, and integration reviews
Provide technical guidance to less experienced team members
Communicate status on system architecture and stability to engineering leadership
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
