Job Description Summary

As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) representative, you will work to create and enforce a culture of health and safety within the BD Enniscorthy site.

Implement programs, policies, and assessments ensuring the site follows all regulations and standards. Review reports and findings to monitor performance and detect trends. As part of the EHS and Facilities team, you will work closely with manufacturing, R&D, and maintenance teams, as well as support staff to accomplish their goals.

Our vision for Peripheral Intervention at BD

Our Peripheral Intervention (PI) business unit offers a comprehensive range of medical products, devices and services for the treatment of peripheral arterial and venous disease, cancer detection, and end-stage renal disease and maintenance.

Key task:

  • Develop, implement, and administer safety and health programs.

  • Coordinate with Human Resources to maintain policies and procedures.

  • Conduct job exposure analyses to ensure safe work environments according to EHS standards.

  • Manage the day to day EHS activities for the site.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies. Develop procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness, and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the site.

  • Lead the development and implementation of site-wide Safety Strategy relating to Occupational Health & Safety Management, to ensure regulatory compliance and commitment to reducing accidents and injuries.

  • Develop and improve management systems to ensure the site is operated in a manner which meets the sites EHS standards.

  • Working on engagement activities on the manufacturing floor to gain ownership and accountability at manufacturing team level.

  • Attend and participate in Tier management meetings ensuring Safety is first at all Tiers.

  • Manage and report on EHS KPI’s and reporting of metrics internally and externally.

  • Manage incident, accident and near miss management, following up, investigation and reporting.

  • Coordinate safety committees and safety activities within the plant.

  • Lead all audit activities on site including annual corporate inspections.

  • Develop and lead EHS initiatives across the site. These activities could be driven through site improvement initiatives or corporate driven initiatives.

  • Support all projects to integrate EHS requirements during implementation.

  • Risk assessment on Equipment, new chemicals, and process steps.

  • Conduct Ergonomic assessments.

  • Lead Sustainability reporting and improvement initiatives around Recycling and Waste reduction.

  • Identify / provide / co-ordinate all EHS training on site.

  • Manage all contractors / Visitors on site from an EHS perspective.

Other Responsibilities may include, however are not limited to:

  • Supporting New product introduction projects from an EHS perspective

  • Support facility construction projects from an EHS perspective.

About you:

  • BS degree in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial technology, or a related field is desirable.

  • 2+ years EHS experience in a senior position, particularly in the manufacturing industry desirable.

  • Extensive knowledge of EHS management systems and their deployment and the Understanding of regulatory environment.

  • Developed, implemented, and continuously improved EHS Programs.

  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to build respect and influence at all levels.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, proven track record working with cross functional teams and ability to influence and motivate teams to take ownership and accountability for actions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, proven track record of communicating to all associates up and down the business.

  • Technical Writing Skills and proven experience writing, auditing and documenting systems.
