The Flight Test Engineer will report to the Manager of Test Engineering and is responsible for test and integration activities from development through deployment. This role is critical for flight test experience in the loads, doors, and ECS/pressurization side of the business. The engineer will work with the program to understand the testing requirements based on the design of a large cargo door being added to a large airframe, and may also engage in smoke evacuation testing. Responsibilities include generating Part 25 FAA style test plans, coordinating instrumentation needs to sub-contractors, executing tests, and generating associated reports.
Responsibilities
Work with the program to understand testing requirements based on the design of a large cargo door being added to a large airframe.
Engage in smoke evacuation testing as needed.
Generate Part 25 FAA style test plans.
Work with relevant DERs and coordinate instrumentation needs with sub-contractors.
Execute tests and generate associated reports.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting and integration activities.
Coordinate and document flight test missions.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Typically 6 or more years of experience in engineering.
Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Knowledge of requirements management, system design, and integration.
Experience with planning, conducting, and documenting flight test missions.
Experience generating flight test plans and reports.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies, including manual and automated testing.
Experience with loads, doors, and/or environmental control systems flight test.
Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and experienced in generation and disposition of product non-conformances.
Experience performing certification testing for various certification organizations (i.e. FAA, NASA, DoD).
Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical troubleshooting techniques.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of both office and hangar settings. The role offers a dynamic experience where employees have access to leadership from day one. The company provides a 401K plan with a 6% matching up to 150%, fully vested in 4 years. This position may turn into a direct role for the right candidate as the company continues to win new programs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
