BeiGene Manager, U.S. Government Affairs and Public Policy in Emeryville, California

General Description:

The Manager will play a critical role supporting BeiGene’s public policy agenda and the company’s efforts to engage with policymakers and external stakeholders. This position will involve managing a variety of projects and initiatives aimed at advancing BeiGene’s policy priorities. The Manager will work closely with the U.S. Government Affairs and Public Policy team and cross-functionally to ensure effective communication and alignment. The Manager will work closely with internal teams to support the execution of strategies and initiatives.

Key responsibilities include supporting U.S. Government Affairs and Public Policy projects, assisting in the preparation of materials and presentations, tracking legislative and regulatory developments, and managing executive scheduling. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and an interest in public policy, healthcare, and biotechnology.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and tracking of key U.S. Government Affairs and Public Policy projects and initiatives. Maintain and update project timelines and deliverables.

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining executive calendars, scheduling meetings, appointments, and events, ensuring timely reminders are sent and coordinating with relevant parties to avoid conflicts.

  • Support the administration of internal cross-functional working groups led or project managed by U.S. Government Affairs and Public Policy.

  • Support the development of strategies, policy positions, and plans for BeiGene policy priorities.

  • Support the development of advocacy and communication materials to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist in the preparation of briefing materials, policy updates, and position papers for internal teams and senior leadership.

  • Support BeiGene subject matter experts on various trade association policy committees to advance the company’s priorities.

  • Monitor and track relevant state and federal legislative developments. Conduct research on legislative and regulatory issues that may impact the biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Assist in managing and organizing records related to lobbying and coordinate submission.

  • Coordinate meetings with stakeholders, including policymakers and industry trade associations.

  • Support Executive Director with budget and forecasting.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have managerial responsibility or budgetary discretion but does require strong cross-functional management skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Other Qualifications and Experience:

  • Five years of directly related biotechnology/healthcare experience, preferably in public policy, government or advocacy related roles.

  • Experience working with or within government agencies, legislative bodies, or trade associations.

  • Sound knowledge of the legislative process and the administrative rulemaking process. Knowledge in biopharmaceutical regulations, including FDA and CMS preferred.

  • Established track record of analytical thinking, creativity, and translating information from a wide variety of resources into actionable policy documents for use in an advocacy setting or otherwise.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organization by building effective relationships across the company.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present clear, concise materials.

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with MS Office Suite and project management software.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.

  • Previous experience with budget and finance systems and contract execution and invoice processing.

  • Previous experience working in a remote position.

Travel: Up to 5%
