Petit Pot Maintenance Technician - Afternoon shift in Emeryville, California

POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Maintenance Technician at Petit Pot, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and efficient operation of all production equipment, utilities, and facilities within our pudding manufacturing operations. This includes specific attention to refrigerated equipment such as freezers, coolers, and cooling cells. Your role is vital in ensuring minimal downtime, maintaining product quality, and supporting our commitment to social and environmental performance. You will perform routine maintenance tasks, troubleshoot equipment issues, and assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Routine Maintenance:Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment, utilities, refrigerated equipment and facilities to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. Follow maintenance procedures and documentation standards.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs:Diagnose, rebuild and repair mechanical, electrical, controls, and pneumatic systems in a timely manner. Quickly address equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Read and understand technical manuals to diagnose failures within the facility.
- Equipment Upgrades and Installations:Assist in the installation, modification, and upgrade of production and refrigeration equipment. Ensure all work meets high standards and complies with safety regulations.
- Safety and Compliance:Adhere to safety protocols and procedures during all maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards. Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the Maintenance Manager.
- Collaboration:Work closely with production and quality teams to address maintenance-related issues and ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate maintenance activities. Support production lines as an on-call basis if necessary.
- Documentation:Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and inventory of spare parts. Utilize MaintainX application for tracking and reporting.
- Social and Environmental Performance:Support initiatives to improve social and environmental performance within maintenance operations. Contribute to energy conservation, waste reduction, and other sustainability efforts.
REQUIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with a solid understanding of pneumatic and fluid.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, electrical and wiring diagrams and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic math skills, including competency with weights and measures

Mobility:
- Regularly move around the plant to perform maintenance tasks, inspect equipment, and respond to breakdowns. Stand, walk, and use hands and fingers for extended periods during maintenance activities.
Physical Effort:
- Lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [insert weight] pounds as necessary for maintenance and repair tasks. Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment to perform job duties. Occasionally work in confined spaces or at heights.
