Anvil Builders Inc Construction Payroll Supervisor in Emeryville, California
We are looking for an energetic team player to lead our payroll department. Anvil Builders is a dynamic civil engineering & general construction firm who love challenging and diverse projects. Grit and teamwork are at the core of all that we do.
Main Responsibilities:
Oversee weekly in-house payroll for a 300 employee General Contractor (includes union employees)
Manage the Timecard reporting process
Prepare manual payroll check runs for field employees
File Federal, State, and Local payroll tax reports (CA & MT)
Partner with HR to facilitate employee onboarding, offboarding, and benefit administration
Supervise the Certified Payroll and DIR reporting process
Maintain Union and Prevailing Wage Rates
Reconcile Union Trust Fund statements
Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and union payroll, wage, and hour laws
Setup and maintain tax tables, add-ons, and deductions in the payroll ERP
Oversee statutory and job specific payroll audits
Required Experience, Traits, & Skills:
4+ years’ experience in payroll related responsibilities
Prior work experience in the construction industry
Experience using certified payroll reporting software a plus (LCP Tracker)
Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel
Highly organized, energetic, focused, and detail oriented
Self-directed with a high level of initiative and a 'can do' attitude
Impeccable and concise communication and presentation skills
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Poised and mature attitude, always remaining calm under pressure
Experience and a commitment to delivering excellence in customer service
Willing and able to be cross-trained and take on a variety of tasks
Desirable Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:
College Degree and/or Certification in Accounting
Experience with Construction Accounting
Experience with Sage or Viewpoint software
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in an office environment
Ability to sit at desk for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach while performing office duties
Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; lift and/or move light weights
Ability to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing, and operating office equipment
Ability to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a keyboard to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data
Ability to see and read characters on a computer screen
Ability to lift and carry cartons or packages weighing up to 20 pounds
