CoreCivic Water-Waste Water Assistant Supervisor in Eloy, Arizona

$34.20 per hour

At CoreCivic, we do more than manage inmates, we care for people! CoreCivic is currently seeking an Water/Waste Water Assistant Supervisor who has a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional security setting.

The Water/Wastewater Assistant Supervisor assists in the operation of the facility's water and wastewater systems in accordance with federal, state and local standards and permit requirements. Verifies that staff members perform the proper sampling procedures, lab analysis, and process control changes as required, and completes all necessary compliance sampling and related documentation. Evaluates staff members' work quality in the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Facility’s building structures and systems, including pumps, motors, electrical equipment, machinery, vehicles and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.

  • Determines the day to day activities and work assignments of the wastewater treatment facility staff.

  • Reviews and monitors staff work product, serves as a resource for level one questions from staff.

  • Escalates more complex issues to management for review.

  • Assists Water/Wastewater Supervisor in developing process controls and implements best practices for the efficient operation of the water and wastewater systems.

  • Monitors adherence to standardized procedures for operation, maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair of utility systems, sampling of water and wastewater.

  • Provides training to new employees and identifies training issues that require management intervention.

  • Enforces safety policies, regulations, standards and practices, including work zone safety, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, lockout-tagout, and hazard communication, as mandated by OSHA and federal, state and local agencies.

  • Takes appropriate action in cases of serious and unusual incidents and emergencies.

  • Escalates complex issues to management when needed.

  • Performs routine inspections of the water and wastewater plants for regulatory compliance, safety, maintenance, completion of work orders and related issues.

  • Suggest corrective action for problems detected and documents corrective action plans for management review.

  • Responds to emergencies, such as water breaks or system outages on an on-call basis.

  • Determines appropriate response level and escalates required emergencies to management.

  • Prepares and maintains a variety of standard operating and regulatory records and reports, as required.

  • Processes work orders, reports, purchase requisitions and other documents in a timely manner.

  • Inspects and diagnoses malfunctioning equipment to ensure correct, cost-effective and quality repairs.

  • Oversees repair or installation of new equipment or parts

  • Ensures that work orders are completed in accordance with company standards for workmanship and housekeeping and in compliance with building codes, blueprints, manuals and/or other applicable procedures, standards or specifications.

  • Prepares orders for supplies, equipment, parts and other maintenance materials within the guidelines of the facility purchasing procedures.

  • Reads, comprehends, analyzes and interprets legal and non-legal documents, such as maintenance and construction contracts, technical procedures, governmental regulations, manuals for equipment, drawings and blueprints.

  • In the absence of the Water/Wastewater Supervisor, acts as point of contact for the Wardens of the facilities serviced by the plant for all water/wastewater issues, as well as secondary point of contact for the FSC in all plant matters.

  • Domestic U.S. travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.

  • Two years of experience in water treatment, water distribution and wastewater treatment is required.

  • Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Operator certified, Grade 2 in wastewater treatment and wastewater collections, and Grade 2 in water treatment and water distribution, is required.

  • Must demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of safe work methods and technical aptitude for understanding and following all safety and sanitary rules and regulations necessary to protect health and welfare of others, and for proposing changes to improve operating policies.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

  • Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • A valid driver's license is required.
