Pacific Air Forces POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC in Elmendorf AFB, Alaska

Summary The primary purpose of this position is to Inspect. maintain and operate Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE). Responsibilities Installs, inspects. troubleshoots, performs modifications and repairs to powered and non-powered AGE. Inspects and checks equipment to determine operating deficiencies. Dispatches AGE to and from the flight line as required. Reviews and corrects/annotates inspection and servicing information on AFTO 244,s IA W Technical Order 00-20-1, Chapter 3. Performs daily inspection of tow vehicles before/after use and maintains AF Form 1800. Reports all discrepancies to supervision. Incumbent Complies with Consolidated Tool Kit (CTK.) program .Adheres to all regulations, directives and policies pertaining to the CTK program. Incumbent maintains established flight and work center supply procedures. Adheres to all regulations, directives and policies pertaining to supply discipline. Incumbent accurately documents forms and records. (i.e. equipment. vehicle. training. historical, etc.) Utilizes safety practices, procedures, follows established safety rules and regulations, and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-5378 POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to AGE powered support systems. Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel, gasoline and gas turbine engines associated with AGE equipment. 2. Knowledge of technical practices associated with repair and maintenance of Aerospace Ground Equipment; hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, refrigeration, heating, liquid/gaseous oxygen and nitrogen and mechanical systems. 3. Skill in reading, interpreting, and using wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders. technical publications, and similar guides associated with AGE equipment. 4. Ability to use and maintain tools, measuring and test instruments, and related equipment needed to· repair, maintain, and troubleshoot Aerospace Ground Equipment. Ability to apply shop procedures, policies. written and oral instructions, and directives sufficient to provide training to others. Ability to adhere to regulations, directives and polices governing the Air Force and Foreign Object Damage Program (FOD). 5. Knowledge of Quality Assurance Program and flight line operations. 6. Knowledge of regulations. procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and the documentation of maintenance actions. Physical Effort Performs work which involves :frequent bending, reaching, crouching. standing, and arm movement. Sometimes must work in awkward positions or cramped areas. Must frequently lift and carry items weighing up to about 40 pounds and lift heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers. Working Conditions May work inside or outside. Inside work involves frequent exposure to drafts, changing temperature, and loud noise. Outside work may involve exposure to bad weather, rain or snow, or wet or icy conditions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
