Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as a technical expert in toxicology and risk assessment for hazardous, toxic, and radiological waste projects. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, advising on remediation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing expert guidance. Responsibilities Conduct and review human health and ecological risk assessments for HTRW sites, ensuring compliance with CERCLA, RCRA, and other regulations. Provide technical guidance on toxicological data, cleanup criteria, and risk-based decision-making for remediation projects. Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and sampling protocols for risk assessment and site characterization activities. Serve as a technical advisor to project teams, customers, and regulators, resolving disputes and ensuring accurate risk assessments. Prepare and deliver technical briefings, reports, and public presentations on hazardous materials and associated risks. Access and utilize toxicological databases and emerging research to support accurate, up-to-date risk evaluations and project planning. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). GS-13 One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a technical authority on toxicological and risk assessment issues, advising multidisciplinary teams and resolving technical disputes; Evaluating and ensuring compliance of risk assessment documents with USACE, EPA, and state/local policies, and providing expert guidance to customers and regulators; AND Representing the organization in high-level meetings with regulators, stakeholders, and the public to address health and ecological risks and advocate for appropriate remediation actions.
