Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the IT Department on JBER, AK. This is a Regular Full-Time position. Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Provide end-user support for all users and systems within the organization and serve as the organization's first line of help to resolve IT and computer systems related issues. Perform basic helpdesk duties such as receive visitors and incoming calls; create and maintain user accounts and records; provide new user orientation and training. Assists in planning for short-tenn and long-tenn loss of system hardware and software; monitor system efficiency, audit logs, and error logs; perform routine system and database maintenance and troubleshoot system failures; perform routing system, database, and user data backups; and ensure end-users are trained and provided user manuals. Consult with customers regarding potential system or program upgrades. Will install, configure, operate, and provide and coordinate support for all client devices and applications and insure they meet the needs and requirements of the activity. Provide instructions and assistance to all organizational personnel on the use of Air Force developed and off-the-shelf software packages. May be required to create, edit, and maintain end-user instructions and manuals. Proactively interacts with users to ensure proper operation of computer systems, hardware, and software. Research and evaluate and provide feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements. Work directly with the Air Force Services Agency, contractors, and vendors to resolve hardware and software issues to include warranty replacements. Update and maintain an approved work order database. Submit and track work requests to other base agencies. Will assist with tracking and maintaining of the IT asset inventory by preparing required documents and following established procedures to ensure the accuracy of the inventory. May be required to maintain ledgers to compile monthly office supplies inventory and pickup parts and supplies as needed. May be required to coordinate with Air Force Services Agency, other base agencies, and contractors to ensure compliance standards are being met. May be assigned the duties of Cybersecurity Liaison (CSL}, Equipment Custodian (EC), and/or Records Custodian (RC). Area of responsibility includes end-users, workstations, servers, and peripherals within the Force Support Squadron. Will keep work areas clean and organized. Will be driving between different facilities located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to perform duties. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience: Knowledge of customer support principles, IT security policies, methods and procedures for documenting resolutions, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of IT design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in testing, installing, operating, managing and maintaining systems that support functional requirements. Must have 2 years of relevant, full-time work experience. Every 2 years of IT related education may be substituted for I year of work experience. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Successful completion of an Access National Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI) is required. Must have CompTIA Security+ or other appropriate IA ce11ification. Must obtain and maintain DoD 8570-M requirements within 6 months of hire. Must be able to lift IT and other related equipment and boxes weighing approximately 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and be on call. Failure to maintain a security clearance and the proper IA certification can result in removal from this position. Must have a valid driver's license. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
