HOW A NETWORK ENGINEER/COMPUTER NETWORK ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and support the government organization’s systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems.

  • Manage fact finding, analysis and development of final reports and delivery of presentations related to information technology.

  • Responsible for designing, leading and managing the delivery of mission critical systems and software products.   

  • Conduct organizational analysis and evaluations to determine functional requirements

  • Work closely with versatile systems and engineering specialists to prioritize customer requirements, define goals, and refine business objectives.  

  • Coordinates with Systems Architect / Engineers, Security, and Program/Project Management to ensure team alignment on key initiatives and dependencies between groups.

  • Assist with network / system design and analyze network models

  • Provide “day-to-day” on-site support customer network, Virtual, and physical server systems.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies

  • Oversee the Installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures

  • Design network and computer security measures to defend, detect and prevent unauthorized network activity.

  • May manage and define network device firewall policies, rules and reports to support network defense.

  • May research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software.

  • Operate monitoring tools/capabilities with the enterprise security information and event management (SIEM) and create/tailor complex event alarms/rules and summary reports

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Required Education and Experience: BA/BS + 10 years

  • Certifications:DoD Approved Baseline 8570 IAT Level III certification is required prior to start date.

  • Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph prior to starting

  • Required Technical Skills: Understanding of spanning-tree, OSPF, BGP, VRFs; proficient in Cisco routers, switches, Nexus, and firewalls; proficient with Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls; familiar with cloud networking; general troubleshooting skills; physical ability to install new hardware

  • Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts:  TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc.

  • Hands on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts

  • Experience with SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage implementations

  • Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments

  • Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments

  • Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies

  • Senior level experience with design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers

The likely salary range for this position is $134,597 - $180,716. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
