We are currently seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will be responsible for administering medications to patients under the supervision of a nurse or healthcare provider. Your role is crucial in ensuring accurate medication administration and patient well-being.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains confidentiality adhering to HIPAA regulations and recommended privacy procedures.

Knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

Assist in the implementation of each residents care plan by performing personal care and all Activities of Daily Living (i.e. dressing, feeding, toileting, grooming).

Answer any call lights in a timely and appropriate manner to determine residents needs and take appropriate action.

Complete documentation accurately and timely following the policies and procedures.

Observe and verbally report to the charge nurse accurate and timely information concerning residents. Reports changes in medical condition of health status, lack of response or resistance to care, special problems, unusual incidents, residents needs or requests, behavioral or psychological concerns. Documents in writing according to established procedures or as requested.

Comply with the residents care plan in the performance of Rehabilitation, Range of Motion, or periods of exercise as ordered by the physician, Physical Therapy, etc.

Listen to residents and families/staff questions and concerns and respond in a timely manner. Report any irresolvable concerns to the charge nurse.

Follow universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation, and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.

Observe residents closely, identifying changing needs and conditions at first indication, and reports immediately to nurse as appropriate.

Assist with the planning and organizing of social activities for individual residents and small groups.

Seek opportunities throughout the day to facilitate spontaneous activities of resident choice and accompany residents in all activities of choice.

Maintain clean space in the assisted living common spaces, as well as support spaces and equipment.

Maintain supply of all material to meet resident needs.

Interact with residents, families, staff, and other visitors to the center in a pleasant, respectful, and courteous manner.

Report all complaints and grievances made by residents, family members, and visitors following the chain of command.

Attend all in-service education programs mandated by federal, state, and Morton County Health System guidelines.

Participate and assist in departmental meetings and projects as assigned.

Prepare and administer non-parenteral medication as ordered by residents physician(s) following Nursing Services procedures and standards.

Ensure that narcotic medications are stored, administered, and recorded in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Know purpose, use and nursing considerations for all medications administered, and apply knowledge correctly. Consult charge nurse or reference material for correct information prior to administration of unfamiliar medications.

Request permission from charge nurse to give prn medication before administration.

Manage medication, supplies, equipment, and disposal following Nursing Services procedures and standards

CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE, REGIS RATIONS

Completion of a state certification course for certified nursing assistants (CNA) in the State of Kansas

Completion of a state certification course for certified medication aide (CMA) in the State of Kansas

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtain BLS certification within 60 days and always maintain a valid CPR certification during his/her employment.
