Complex Human Resources Manager

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Complex Human Resources Manager for JBS Prepared Foods that reports onsite to the Elkhart, IN plant and support other locations as needed.

The Complex Human Resources Manager will lead all Human Resources efforts at the plant level including hiring and recruiting, training and retention, labor and employee relations, public and community relations and employee branding efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all HR functions at multiple locations.

  • Ability to travel to multiple locations as business needs dictate.

  • Provides facility supervision with advice and counsel on personnel issues.

  • Administers unemployment claims, attends unemployment hearings.

  • Ensures regulatory compliance with ADA, FMLA, EEOC, etc. Stays current on recent federal, state and case law changes and monitors labor law updates for changes that affect HR.

  • Proposes, publishes and administers personnel policies.

  • Administers all employee relations issues. Processes and implements formal disciplinary action of employees, initiates termination procedures and terminates employees as needed.

  • Prepares and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data. Maintains HRIS integrity.

  • Responds to any questions and/or requests by governmental agencies, including employee complaints.

  • Establishes, evaluates and maintains departmental reports and key indicators. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

  • Directs local benefits administration, enrollment and open enrollment meetings.

  • Supervises staff of HR employees.

  • Responsible for internal company communication, including bulletin boards, company newsletter, etc.

  • Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill salaried

  • Travel approximately 20%.

  • Assist with the training of HR Personnel within the BU.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in HR management or supervision required

  • 2-3 years’ experience in meat processing or other manufacturing setting

  • Communication/public relations skills required

  • Bilingual skills preferred

  • PHR or SPHR preferred

  • Good organizational and problem solving skills

  • Excellent technical skills (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and HR-SAP)

  • Frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.

  • Provide additional support to our South Bend, IN and Swanton, VT locations.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits :

  • Benefits : Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
