Akebono Brake Corporation Sr. Quality Engineer in Elizabethtown, Kentucky

Purpose/Summary

Sr. Quality Engineer for ABC-QA supports Akebono customer APQP, PPAP, and on-going Quality Assurance maintenance activities related to Akebono product transfers. Additional duties include supporting the quality improvement and technical areas for the AKB manufacturing plants in North America.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities       

  • Key member in PPAP process, transfer projects, and launch activity (cradle to grave).

  • Supports manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, R&D, purchasing and other related resources in quality improvement

  • Supports the development of planned activities to improve quality. (Develops action plan, assign responsibility and target dates with team)

  • Research all sources that have experience with Technology, Product, Process, & etc. that can aid in quality improvement or process development

  • Assists Quality Improvement Project Activity. (Document and track results of actions.)

  • Assists problem solving and verification of countermeasures with team

  • Leads internal/external meetings related to Quality improvement projects

  • Provides guidance, technical support, and analysis for improvement projects and processes

  • Supports team in all aspects of quality improvement projects and processes

  • Supports team in all aspects of quality improvement and VA/VE

    Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

    4 year college degree in engineering or technical field. Minimum of 5 years in Quality Field, management or supervision position. Quality/statistical/problem solving training classes/seminars, Six Sigma, Shainin techniques. Familiarity with Automotive customer’s quality requirements and industry standards. Materials, Brake product knowledge/experience.

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Communications (written/verbal) skills

  • Use of office related software for office use

  • Blueprint reading, GD&T, basic understanding of metrology

  • Experience in automotive or manufacturing industry and PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, Manufacturing Process Experience

  • Organizational skills

    Physical Demands/Environment

  • Infrequent handling of calipers and components.
