Akebono Brake Corporation Machining Group Leader (2nd Shift) in Elizabethtown, Kentucky
SUMMARY
The Machine Line Group Leader assigned to 2nd shift (2:00pm-10:30pm) will be responsible for providing leadership and support to ensure safe and efficient production with strict adherence to quality guidelines .
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Communicates with Associates, Supervisors and Management to facilitate production, implement continual improvement, and encourage safety.
• Administers safety program initiatives and immediately seeks resolution and closure to health and safety issues including elevation of the issue if necessary.
• Assures strict compliance with all quality standards through the assignment of trained Associates and ensure quality standards are met.
• Coordinates assigned activities at a level to maintain an orderly flow of product throughout the assembly process.
• Supports effective training of new or transferred Associates.
• Performs daily inspections of the work area to ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 5-S initiatives, Lean Manufacturing initiatives, environmental objectives, and general facility housekeeping, and resolves any items of non-compliance within a timely manner.
• Provide Technical Support and expertise to all quality and engineering functions.
• Conduct examinations and dimensional analysis on products, materials, components and parts at various stages of Production.
• Ensure compliance with established Quality and Reliability standards utilizing multiple different measuring methods.
Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)
High school diploma or GED
Must have completed 3-month probationary period
Required to complete training classes and pass Machine Group Leader Exam sections
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong analytical, written, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities, determining root cause and taking action to fully resolve
Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to direct, motivate, and develop people
Understanding of Kaizen and Kanban principles

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand walk/move; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
