Description We are looking for a meticulous Royalty Accountant to join our team in the retail industry. Based in El Segundo, California, this role involves handling accounting operations related to our Licensing Department. The Royalty Accountant will be working with licensees, managing licensee accounts, and assisting with various accounting and finance duties.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal departments including the Licensing Department to project revenue and analyze related marketing expenses.

• Liaise with licensees for accounts receivable and minimum guarantee collections.

• Conduct licensing revenue accounting functions, including royalty statement review and processing, and book revenue income and expenses.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in royalty statements and contractual terms.

• Manage licensee accounts by proactively handling key elements of the revenue process to ensure timely and accurate results.

• Oversee master licensee tracking and payment files.

• Generate and send invoices for contractual obligations for the Licensing division.

• Assist with quarterly and year-end audit requests from external auditors and prepare necessary documentation.

• Track commissions due to agents and communicate with new licensees about the reporting process and templates.

• Assist in preparing quarterly management reports for headquarters.

• Perform assigned tasks related to month-end and quarter-end close deliverables and reconciliations.

• Use accounting software systems to transact accounting entries and perform other general operational accounting and finance duties as needed. Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Royalty Accountant role or similar

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services

• Experience with CCH Sales Tax

• Knowledge of Ceridian software

• Competence in CorpTax Software

• Well-versed in general Accounting Functions

• Proven skills in Auditing

• Strong understanding of Compliance procedures

• Knowledge of IRS regulations

• Experience in Payment Processing

• Retail industry experience is preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
