Position Description:

This position is responsible for providing services at Children's Hospital. This includes examination of patients, ordering x-rays and laboratory tests to help make an accurate diagnosis, and planning and execution of treatment. The person in this position works in a busy, pressured environment and sees a high volume of patients, as needed by TTUHSC and The Children’s Hospital.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Provides patient care to newborns, children, and adolescents in the hospital setting

  • Supervises medical students, residents, and advanced practice professionals in the clinical setting

  • Participates in the education of medical students and residents

  • Ensures compliance with HIPPAA and billing regulations

  • Demonstrates Professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program

  • Board certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics

  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Neonatology Fellowship Program or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program

  • Board Certified in either sub specialty Neonatology or Pediatric critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics or eligible to sit for examination

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

  • Experience in teaching students and residents in Pediatric Hospital Medicine

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an approved accredited School of Medicine with an M.D. degree

  • At least three years post-graduate training in primary care medicine

  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer license to Texas

  • Certificate or license for prescribing controlled substances

  • M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign equivalent

  • Successful completion of an AOA- or ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency Program

  • Texas medical license, or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas

  • Board certification in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics
