Key Responsibilities:
Legal Research and Analysis
- Conduct research on laws, regulations, and legal precedents relevant to cases.
- Analyze and summarize findings for attorney review.
Document Preparation
- Draft legal documents such as contracts, affidavits, pleadings, and motions.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
Case Management
- Assist in case preparation by collecting, organizing, and reviewing evidence or records.
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and experts to schedule interviews and depositions.
- Track deadlines and ensure timely filings with courts or regulatory agencies.
Client and Team Interaction
- Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates.
- Collaborate with attorneys and other legal staff to support case strategies.
Administrative Support
- Manage legal correspondence, including emails, letters, and phone calls.
- Maintain billing records and track time spent on cases.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associates degree or certification in paralegal studies (bachelors degree preferred).
- Certification from a recognized body (e.g., NALA, NFPA) is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficient in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a law firm or legal department preferred.
- Knowledge of specific areas of law, such as corporate, family, criminal, or real estate, is advantageous.
