IT Infrastructure Technician

This position will work 2nd shift (1500 to 2300) rotating schedule.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain IT, audio visual and telecommunications equipment.
Install, troubleshoot, configure, and maintain IT Equipment including Alarm Systems, Video Surveillance Systems, Switches, Battery Backups, Access Points, etc.
Install, maintain, and terminate cabling, including CAT6 and fiber.
Perform daily/scheduled maintenance checks and services on equipment.
Mounting and securing telecommunications equipment such as switches, routers, and patch panels.
Testing and troubleshooting network connections to identify and resolve issues.
Conducting site surveys to assess telecommunications infrastructure needs.
Collaborating with other team members to design and implement telecommunications solutions.
Documenting all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately.
Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working in various environments.
Providing technical support and assistance to end-users as needed.
Keeping abreast of advancements in telecommunications technology and best practices.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Must be at least 21 years of age.
2+ years IT installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
General IT/IT infrastructure installation, configuration, and troubleshooting skills.
General knowledge of cabling and termination best practices.
Skill Set Requirements:
Wiring and Cabling:
Installation and termination of low voltage cables (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, and fiber optic).
Understanding of wiring standards and best practices.
System Installation:
Setup and configuration of low voltage systems such as security, fire alarm, access control, and audio/video systems.
Knowledge of industry standards and local codes for low voltage installations.
Troubleshooting and Repair:
Diagnostic skills to identify issues within low voltage systems.
Ability to perform repairs and replace components as needed.
Networking:
Basic understanding of networking principles.
Experience with routers, switches, and other network equipment.
Electronics and Circuitry:
Familiarity with low voltage electronics, wiring, and operation.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
Tools and Equipment:
Proficiency in using hand and power tools specific to low voltage work.
Knowledge of testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, cable testers).
Safety Protocols:
Adherence to safety regulations and practices when working with low voltage systems.
the hazards inherent to electricity, especially high voltage.
Conduct regular hazard assessments before commencing any work tasks.
Identified hazards must be reported to the Site IT Foreman for risk assessment and mitigation before starting any work.
Additional duties as assigned
You will be required to complete a daily report of tasks completed for the day.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience supporting the Department of Homeland Security
A+ Certification
Experience splicing fiber optic cable
