A Director of Operations is responsible for the overall operation of projects/contract including ensuring the safety and well-being of its employees, safeguarding company funds, property, and proprietary information all while representing the company with respect to the client. TheDirector of Operationsoversees a workforce of Operations and project leaders who in turn direct a workforce of technicians and professionals engaged in a variety of activities in the management of various types of programs. This position ensures that established company goals are realized while maintaining client relations that will enhance future business. This position is also responsible for ensuring all company and program compliance is followed in accordance with company and program/contract guidelines. Responsible for mentoring and directing disciplined operations, schedule urgency and overall human performance. This position interacts with company operations support offices, vendors, prime contractors, subcontractors and customer representatives as required, and will develop close working relationships with various business leaders/stakeholders throughout the organization.Responsibilities include managing several site managers, operations managers, budget management, customer relationships and key performance indicators.

Responsibilities:

  • Working under the supervision of a company principal, demonstrates project leadership in their area of responsibility.
  • Identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.
  • Ensure development and adherence to the project work breakdown structure, asset management, and work-flow management elements.
  • Mentoring and directing disciplined operations, schedule urgency and overall human performance of the site team. May be tasked with mentoring of company operations manager/s.
  • Expand the project execution plan for subsequent phases (project phase in, project execution, etc.) and communicates and coordinates the implementation of each phase with the project team.
  • Establish, track, and report status against key performance indicators or contractual metrics on a routine basis.
  • Participate in the establishment of project organizational structure in support of proposal efforts.
  • Demonstrate command of the schedule goals, key milestones and approach to the work embodied in the schedule.
  • Ensure that a firm scope-based schedule baseline is established and properly resourced.
  • Manage performance and progress against the plan and ensures accurate forecasts with commensurate action plans.
  • Review, report and manage key performance measures defined within the contract. Implements corrective measures when measures are outside service levels or bandwidths.
  • Consistently meet or improve upon the established schedule goals in their area of responsibility.

  • Establish annual operating budgets for program and other areas such as travel and ODC, etc. in cooperation with customer, business manager, or company/program manager/site manager financial department.
  • Reports: Provide accurate monthly program cost, forecasts of monthly cost, program schedule, and operational accomplishments by section in an effort to ensure company meets KPI's and also contribute to future proposals.
  • Work with clients to increase scope of services on existing contracts.
  • Support company business development efforts in contract negotiations with customers.
  • May serve as the proposal manager for a project.
  • Support or conduct formal presentations to clients and/or management.

Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or 4-year equivalent servi g as a Logistic Manager
  • In addition to education, 10 years of professional experience managing a multi-skilled technical workforce, supervisors and/or subcontractors in a technical capacity.
  • Must have Secret Clearance
  • Travel CONUS and OCONUS required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Physical requirement:


Must be able to sit and perform office functions for prolonged periods.

May require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing and walking, prolonged sitting.

May work around Hazmat work areas. Use of PPE may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

PMP Certification

Experience managing Logistic Managers.
