Job Description
Operations Engineer
Location/Division Specific Information
At the MSD site in Eindhoven, we develop, build, and deliver innovative High-End Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEMs).
The Position
On high-end Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM), different cameras and detectors are present. The team within Operations Engineering is responsible for their quality and performance. A physics or electronics background for this role is preferred, but enthusiasm and a practical, proactive approach are key to making this role a success.
In this role, you are a key player within operations. Good and clear communication is essential as we have to align with several departments and suppliers worldwide. Together with R&D and partners, we also work on new developments to improve the functionality and reliability of the modules we are responsible for.
As part of the Operations Engineering IA&D team, you will focus on supporting manufacturing to ensure efficient processes and the flawless introduction of new features.
As an Operations Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be part of a passionate and hardworking team in Eindhoven, working with our groundbreaking Transmission Electron Microscopes!
Our Transmission Electron Microscopy technology enables and supports Nobel Prize-winning research and played a relevant role in the early assessment of COVID-19. But our microscopes are also used for process control in, for example, the semiconductor industry. The impact of your work is visible, and you will actively contribute to the latest breakthroughs in Science.
How You Will Make an Impact
Providing second-line support to the factory and service in case of technical problems, to ensure the shipping of high-quality systems to customers.
Supporting the supply chain with engineering expertise. This includes the analysis of parts for reliability, manufacturability, vendor qualification support, and supplier technical quality issues. Participates in supplier audits.
Improving parts quality of the products you are responsible for by defining and implementing improvements in a structured, project-based way.
Crafting and maintaining manufacturing tooling/documentation (e.g., work instructions), defining ways of working (factory process flow), and providing training.
How You Will Get Here
Bachelor’s or University degree in a technical area (Physics, Electronics, Mechatronics).
Confirmed experience in a high-tech industry, preferably in a manufacturing engineering environment. Knowledge and/or experience with electron microscopy is a huge plus.
Excellent communication and social skills.
Be a collaborative team player with a hands-on and can-do mentality.
Excellent English language skills (verbal and written); Dutch is a huge plus.
Of course, we all know a list of job requirements is like a wish list. You list the highest priorities on top, but you know you can be surprised with items you didn’t think of yourself. The same goes for this position. Are you certain you are the ideal candidate but do not match every part of the requirements? We are excited to get to know you and discuss a possible fit.
Our Offer
Direct contract with Thermo Fisher Scientific with a competitive salary, 13th month, holiday allowance, and annual incentive bonus.
A flexible working hours arrangement.
Excellent career progression opportunities within a growing global employer.
Training and courses available via our Thermo Fisher University to continuously develop yourself.
Collaborative work in an international environment.
Very attractive 40 holidays a year.
This is a full-time position (40 hours). Working part-time is an option in case you’re available for at least 32 hours.
We encourage candidates who enjoy working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary, groundbreaking technology environment where personal development and team cooperation are key to success, to make the impossible possible for our customers.
Diversity in our teams is an important element to building an effective and challenging working environment. Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement are key values that we expect of all who are part of our community.
