Computer Scientist
ATEC is looking for a Computer Scientist to support the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) program in support of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Applicable functional areas include proficiency and knowledge of real-time design, development, testing and interfacing of software and computer hardware systems. Comprehensive software development skills and experience with programming languages used for National Airspace Systems (NAS) and NAS support systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- The person in this position will work specifically with the STARS Software Development & Test Team using C/C++, shell scripting, database concepts (SQL), Red Hat Linux, Redmine, Collaborator, and various homegrown tools. STARS Lab assignments are essential.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform software analysis and implement code fixes.
Perform peer/code reviews.
Ability to write test plans and procedures.
Ability to work individually and within a group/team.
Ability to take direction and initiative; ability to provide direction and training.
Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.

Required:

EDUCATION/YEARS of EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor?s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and fifteen (15) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field
OR
- Master?s Degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twelve (12) years related work experience in a computer science or math field.
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:
US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US

Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Desk/lab located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center.
Potential for hybrid schedule.
Limited (25% or less) travel to locations throughout the US.
PAY RANGE:
- $90,000 - $111,000
