Computronix Technical Business Analyst in Edmonton, Alberta

About Computronix

Our low turnover rate, challenging work, great client relationships, and teamwork create a high morale environment with plenty of opportunities to innovate, grow in your career, and never get bored!

As a Technical Business Analyst at Computronix, you will be a member of a project team that works directly with clients to ensure our solutions meet their needs.

As the Technical Business Analyst, you will...

  • Lead training-based fit-gap sessions and demonstrate strong product and business knowledge to provide a solution to fit the client's needs.

  • Understand, analyze, and document client business needs and help to describe both the big picture and the details for the project team.

  • Share the resulting software requirements specification with a Technical Designer who prepares wireframes and other materials to describe potential solutions for the client.

  • Present the requirements and the potential solutions to receive a client sign-off.

  • Develop the acceptance criteria to help the client validate that the requirements have been met correctly.

You are perfect for this role if you have...

  • Experience as a City Planner or with implementing City Planning software solutions

  • 7-10+ years experience as a Business Analyst working for a Software Solutions Provider

  • CBAP certification is desired, familiarity with the BA Body of Knowledge (BABOK)

  • Communication skills

  • Excellent, audience-appropriate written and oral communication skills

  • Business Analysts spend significant time interacting with clients and project teams. They must be comfortable facilitating groups of people with diverse backgrounds, education, and job skills. Project success depends on clear and accurate communication.

  • Modeling/Demonstration skills

  • Demonstrating and conceptual modeling the business view of a solution is a critical tool that helps bring business, technology, and developers together. A critical skill for Business Analysts is the ability to present the business view (vs. the technical view) of the solution.

  • A Business Analyst must have experience working with external clients to match their existing processes to our products “in the box” workflows and functionality.

  • Technical understanding

  • To successfully identify business solutions, a Business Analyst must have a solid grasp of what possible outcomes can be achieved.

  • Speaking with authority in the dual languages of business and technology is necessary to gain respect and earn trust from IT and business end-users.

  • Analytical skills

  • A Business Analyst’s skill set must include outstanding analytical skills so that a customer’s business needs are properly interpreted and translated into application and operational requirements.

  • Critical thinking ability

  • Critical thinking means decomposing complex, ambiguous ideas into smaller and more concrete pieces, patterns, and views. Business Analysts help others see both the big picture and the details from different perspectives.

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Business Analysts need to be curious enough to dig into a problem until it is fully understood. They need to communicate their understanding, going beyond the features and functionality of the process or software, to the impact and ROI it will have on the business.

  • Decision-making skills

  • As a consultant to management and advisor to designers, the Business Analyst needs to show sound judgment in a wide variety of complex business matters. They must be able to assess a situation, draw on both input from stakeholders, and business domain experience, and propose a course of action.

  • Negotiation and persuasion skills

  • A Business Analyst is a liaison between designers and users, clients and companies, and often client management and client IT. Finding the balance between individual wants and business needs, and then interacting with different personalities and agendas, searching for a solution that works for the business, takes outstanding persuasion skills.

  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodology

  • Prefer experience working with government agencies

  • Ability to travel no more than 25%

We value…

You will receive...

  • A competitive pay scale commensurate with your skills and expertise

    • A generous medical, dental, and vision benefits plan along with retirement plans.
  • An opportunity to grow both personally and professionally through our CX Academy.

  • Work/life balance is something we are committed to, not something we just talk about. We believe you should love your work and your play.

  • A company that cares about you and is committed to our principles of Trust. Respect. Serve.

  • A commitment to corporate transparency with quarterly all-company meetings.
