WSP USA Co-op Student, Transportation – Regional Roads in Edmonton, Alberta

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking Co-op Students to join our Regional Roads team, located in Edmonton. Reporting to the Area Manager, this position will be responsible for supporting projects primarily in the field and office as well.

What you can expect to do here:

  • To work with Project Managers, Technicians and Surveyors on the delivery of a variety of complex transportation engineering projects;

  • Travel to various projects throughout the assigned region to ensure required tasks are completed in a timely manner and construction schedules are not compromised;

  • Perform various material testing in accordance with procedures outlined in Contract Specifications, CSA and ASTM;

  • Assist and/or perform various surveys on various projects throughout the assigned region as required and outlined in Contract Specifications;

  • Support the engineering team with onsite construction surveying using GPS, Drone and conventional survey methods;

  • Prepare laboratory test reports, and field review reports;

  • Ability and willingness to travel, work away from home for extended periods of time, and work long hours;

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Have a valid Class 5 driver’s license;

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited co-op post-secondary Civil Engineering program;

  • Adaptable to a changing work environment;

  • Motivated, self-starter who can be a leader and work well independently or with a team;

  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
