Burlington Lead Software Engineer - Workday in Edgewater Park, New Jersey

Overview

As a Lead Software Engineer in this role, you will provide guidance and support regarding best practices, industry standards, and process improvements across HR applications. Workday expertise is required.

You will work closely with our partners to ensure that their requirements are met and that the applications developed are delivered on time and to the highest possible quality standards.

This is a HYBRID position, with the current requirement of bi-weekly, Wednesday and Thursdays.

A Day In The Life

  • Evaluates user / business requests for new or modified software applications to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities.

  • Consults with users to identify current operating procedures, clarify program objectives, and solve problems.

  • Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps the program must follow and to describe logical operations involved.

  • Analyze current technologies used within the company and develop steps and processes to improve.

  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved.

  • Designs user interfaces to accomplish the goals of business requests.

  • Designs, Develops, and Tests Code

  • Develop customizations, extensions, and integrations to meet the needs of the business, and to increase operational efficiency

  • Writes, tests, troubleshoots and corrects software applications.

  • Monitors the performance of applications after implementation.

  • Write documentation to describe program development and logic. Participates in the development of the Support Plan documentation.

  • Corporate Support

  • Provide deep support for assigned applications during, before, and after business hours as needed

  • Technical/Project Leadership

  • Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for Human Resource Information System, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams

  • Leads projects of small-to-medium size and complexity – providing direction to project team members on technology, implementation, and support.

  • Communicates the status of projects and deliverables to both IT Management and business stakeholders.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends related to HRIS systems.

To Be Successful You Should Possess

  • U.S. Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in another country required. Experience combined with specialized training/certifications can be considered.

  • 7+ years related work experience.

  • Must have a working knowledge of a SDLC and Project Life Cycle methodologies

  • Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop program and submits plan to users for approval

  • Applies the concepts of System Acceptance and User Acceptance Testing during the development process

  • Provide clear documentation for implementations

  • Ensures back-out plans are addressed and documented

  • Program Language and Technology:

  • Integration tools including Studio, EIB, Connectors, Java , XML, XSLT, and Web Services

  • Experience with Web Services and APIs: (WSDL (Web Service Description Language), SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), REST (Representational State Transfer) and WS (Web Services) standards.

  • Knowledge in Integration security (ISU, PGP Key, MFA).

  • Proficient in report writing, creating custom objects, custom reports, and calculated fields

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Workday experienced is required - HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence Management, Recruiting, Compensation, and Talent Management.
