City of Eastpointe DDA Community Ambassador in Eastpointe, Michigan

*Position Summary: *

Under the supervision of the Economic Development Manager, performs routine maintenance and community outreach within the jurisdiction of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA). This individual will also provide support to the DDA Board and Administration by distributing information and materials to promote downtown activities, events, and assist the economic development department and small business owners with communication needs and projects.

 

* Essential Job Functions:*

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions.  These examples do not include all of the duties, which the employee may be expected to perform.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.  

  1. Cleans and maintains green spaces, sidewalks, and parking lots within the downtown district by sweeping, raking, weeding, washing, watering, shoveling, trimming, etc. 
  2. Removes trash from all containers within the district on a daily basis and disposes of the trash at the DPW facility.  
  3. Identifies and addresses needs and problems related to ground and facility maintenance in consultation with their supervisor.
  4. Report any code enforcement violations, parking violations or potential criminal activity to the appropriate sources. 
  5. Assists with promoting and executing DDA events.
  6. Distributes material and relevant information to businesses within the district and responds to inquiries about available programming and initiatives.  
  7. Builds a rapport with the DDA business owners and residents to increase activity and engagement.
  8. Attends the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) meetings to inform the Board of any concerns or growth within the District.  
  9. Welcomes new DDA businesses and provides material and information about the District.  
  10. Reports any vacant buildings within the corridor and reports any concerns related to vacant commercial buildings.   
  11. Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards. 
  12. Takes part in training when required.  
  13. Performs other duties as required.

     

     Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.

One (1) year of professional experience in business administration, customer service, community organizing, maintenance, landscaping, or a similar field (education may replace professional experience); Two (2) or more years preferred.

Must possess general knowledge of the methods and practices in routine maintenance and support of local businesses.
